The Indigenous-Language Immersion and Native American Student Achievement Study

In this mutli-institutional project funded by the Spencer Foundation, our goal is to illuminate how, when, for whom, and why Indigenous-language immersion (ILI) is beneficial.

The study significantly advances our understanding of the factors that contribute to improved education practice for underserved Native American students.

The Indigenous-Language Immersion Study brings forward the voices of students, families, and educators to show how language and culture create stronger schools, healthier communities, and brighter futures.

My hope for my children – our children – is learning the Native language, but also the culture, and for them to know who they are. … The families, the parents, are very hands-on. … My children are thriving here, and also our family.

So, I always remind the kids that, what you do in this school, outside of this school, we are with you.  Do your best, and we’ll be… rooting for you
